Recent Projects

Spring/Summer 2008
As the weather heats up, we have seen an increase in requests for temperature controlled transit regionally and cross country.  So far this year, we have moved 5000 cases for clients.

June 2008
We have recently completed consulting on the construction of an elaborate, multi-room, 2500 square foot cellar.  As construction finished, we also coordinated the delivery of nearly 10,000 bottles from multiple vendors and storage facilities.  Every bottle is now safely in the cellar and fully integrated with Cellartracker.

April 2008
Cellar Advisors consults on  the development and launch of the first direct-to-consumer wine insurance products.  Please contact us for more details of this revolutionary product.

February 2008
While conducting a standard CellarTracker project, our team uncovered, investigated and documented over $100,000 of counterfeit wines in our client's cellar.

May 2007
An architect in New York retained us to consult on the design of a very complex cellar being installed in a rehabbed Manhattan co-op.  Old construction, difficult utility access and the typical New York space concerns were serious challenges.  Our team approach allowed for an innovative cooling system to be installed and to maximize the usable space for bottle storage.

June 2007
A long-time client called us to handle the consolidation, move and sale of nearly 6000 bottles of wine.  We sent our crew and equipment out west and setup a makeshift warehouse operation to scan, inventory, pack and ship the dozen or so pallets.  We also negotiated with a major auction house to ensure favorable commission terms for this substantial sale.  And of course, the records of these transactions are logged in detail on the clients CellarTracker system.

Spring 2007
A Connecticut collector and his cellar architect contacted us about what has become the most technology intensive cellar we’ve ever worked on.  We developed a configuration of multiple workstations, barcode scanning systems built into doorframes and a proprietary interface to automate inventory tasks for this avid collector.  We have managed design and installation of the hardware as well as moving in and cataloging all the wine from its former storage location.

July 2007
Summer is a dangerous time for wine.  Around mid June, the phones start ringing as people find that their well laid relocation plans do not include proper temperature controls for their precious wine collections.  From June through September, we will help dozens of collectors with local and long distance moves (some even overseas) using refrigerated equipment and carefully assessing the clients insurance situation as another layer of risk management.

February 2007
A client in Chicago suffered a significant flood which damaged most of his best wines. We worked with his insurance company to appraise and asses the damage, which ranged from broken bottles to slightly soiled labels and reached an equitable settlement which would allow our client to replace most of the damaged wines. We then developed a buying plan to capitalize on current market conditions and to expand what had been a fairly narrow collection. We sourced some of the exact same wines from favorite producers and also branched out into new wineries and regions.

Fall 2006 - February 2007
A local client contacted us to consult on filling his new and nearly empty collection. We started slow, with a few cases a month, and planned for current consumption and long term aging. We met monthly to go over recent purchases and taste new wines, slowly getting a sense of our clients likes and dislikes. In early 2007, we accelerated our acquisitions, finding and negotiating for an expansive private collection which became available. We handled moving, unpacking and updating our clients burgeoning CellarTracker inventory. He is now well on his way to a Connoisseur Collection, and can explore his new vertical, horizontal and large format selections.

December 1, 2006
We have just completed our largest cellar inventory and automation project to date. Earlier this year we were contacted by a prominent Northwest collector about his 20,000+ bottle collection. After a scouting visit where we toured 6 different cellars and facilities and held extensive discussions with the client about his buying, consumption, travel and entertainment patterns. We then developed a plan allowing us to send 4 cellar associates to inventory, reorganize, unpack and completely barcode the entire collection. Completed in late November, our client now has full CellarTracker functionality, including critic scores, drinking ranges and real-time valuation in each of his cellars, across three states. We will continue to keep in close contact with this collector, assisting his future purchases and managing the liquidation of duplicate cases or wines which are nearing maturity.
